My First Ever Vinyl Project!!

One of the things I purchased the Silhouette Cameo for was to be able to cut vinyl to make fun gifts and projects.  What is funny is that I've been too overwhelmed by all that comes with vinyl that I hadn't tried it...until yesterday.  I wanted to make a birthday gift with it though so I put on my big girl panties and got to work.  First I picked out a fun sentiment to put on the glass of the frame I had picked out.  The sentiment was easy to pick because it said exactly what my friend and I talk about...that we are perfectly fine with our age and that we can't wait to get to the next big step.  So, ready to see the gift?

"My favorite age is now"  How perfect this that?  I added a couple of fun little hearts in complimentary colors as well.  Now, since this was my first time making something with vinyl I did mess up and the sentiment is not centered the way I'd like but I've got a couple of tips from people that will lead me in the right direction of getting it perfect next time.  There are actually two pieces of glass in this frame and the sentiment is on the second pieces of glass.

And then, of course, I needed to have a card and packaging so I threw this little set together.  I purchased all three of the files for these projects from the Silhouette Design Store.  Here is a link to the card, a link to the gift sentiment, and a link to the gift bag sentiment.

So there you have my crafty Saturday!  I hope you got some time to play in your crafty space this weekend, too!

A Simple Sentiment

I finished up the other sympathy card to put in the mail today.  It is a little bit later then I would normally get a card out but at least it is done and in the mail today.  Again, this card was cut with my Silhouette and I purchased the file from the Silhouette Store (#57435) and the little butterflies are a SU! punch that I have.  The papers are old papers from PTI and I thought they would be great due to their subtlety.
I'm hoping to get working on 4th of July cards and some special "envelopes" for my son to take with him while he is gone for a couple of weeks this summer.  More on that in the future!

It feels as if I've had to make too many sympathy cards just recently...that is no fun at all.  I do put a lot of thought into them though to make them special for the person receiving it.  This one I used a file from the Silhouette Store that I purchased and was worried it would be too difficult but it wasn't and I'm thrilled with the way it came out.

The flowers and patterned paper are made with SU! cardstock...Calypso Coral, So Saffron, and Pear Pizzazz.  The base is SU!'s kraft cardstock called Crumb Cake.  I just couldn't fit a sentiment on the front so I just added it inside, stamped a sentiment, and called it good.  I actually have another sympathy card to make today and then I can move onto more fun things!!

I hope you have a fantastic day!

A 'Wonder'ful Woman

Good morning!  This week started off rough.  On Monday we found out that we needed to let go of our faithful dog, Tara.  She had been sick for about a week but I still was hoping that she would pull through.  She was an old girl at about 13 1/2 years old and, we come to find out, that she had arthritis too so clearly she was having some old age issues.  She is greatly missed!  Just want to share a photo of her with you all...
In an effort to distract myself I took to my crafty room and made a fun 'Wonderwoman' card with a minion cut file I got in a SVG Cutting Files blog hop.  In addition to the minion cut file I also used a card cut file to cut all the pieces for my card...super easy!  Love it!  The cute little sentiment is from Jaded Blossom's Super Hero (revamp) perfect, right?
There you have it for today.  I hope your week has been going great and see you back soon!

Father's Day THIS Sunday!!

It's coming...are you ready?  I am!!  I finished up all three of my Father's Day cards yesterday.  Check 'em out!
The above card was made completely with cutting files on my Cameo.  Have I said I LOVE my new Cameo?  I would never have been able to get these cuts with my old Cricut (it was fine for simple things).  This card is for my FIL as my husband tells me his dad has a board just like this in his garage!!  The cut file is from the Cameo store so no link for you.
Above is the card for my dad.  I have lots of memories of my dad cooking for us on the grill so this is just perfect!  This image is from the Wild & Crazy Guys! set by Kraftin' Kimmies Stamps.  The card itself is a cut file from SVG Cutting Files which made putting this together super easy.  Oh!  And the 'dad' on the front is a freebie from Miss Kate Cuttables (best freebies ever on their Facebook group!).
And finally this one is for my 'other' FIL.  A man who took me on as a daughter years ago and puts up with me still!  This image is from the Wild & Crazy Guys! set as well, the layout is from SSSC and papers are super old Basic Grey papers.

I love each one of these for how well they capture the person they are going to.  So much fun and care was had making these!!  Do you have your cards ready to go?

A first...

Yesterday was our grandson's first birthday and he was dedicated.  What a super special day!  I, of course, wanted to make some decoration for his birthday party which was to be jungle themed.  My Scrap Chick has an entire group of jungle cutting files called Jungle Zoo Too that was perfect!  I made one of each character (front and side views) and also made a banner, too.  It was a months long project as I made a few at a time and then went on to do something else.  I'm SUPER pleased with how they turned out!!

So, above is the banner I made.  His name is also made from files from My Scrap Chick but the 1st Birthday is from Miss Kate Cuttables.
Here is the cake his mama made for him with a couple of the decoration piecees on it.  My grandson is a blondie so this little guy is made to look like him.  Next are the five different decorations set throughout the house.

And above is a photo of our grandson with the cookie monster cake we gave him at our house on Friday.  He actually did not want to put his hand or face in it so we just cut it into pieces and he ate some that way.

I gotta tell  you it was super special making the decorations for his birthday.  A labor of love for a little boy who has totally captured our hearts!!

It's graduation time!!

I don't know about you but we definitely know several people that are graduating high school this year and one college graduation!  Very fun and exciting!  Kyler played drums in the band last night for the high school graduation and came home all excited because even though he has one week left in his junior year he is an honorary senior now...woohoo!  I'm excited for him is a really exciting time in a young persons life!  Now onto showing you a couple of cards that I have made.  I still need to make one more today but I'll share that another day.  Here you go...
The above card is a cut file from the Silhouette store and is really quite large at over the envelope it is huge but I'm not going to mail it so it should be fine! The blue is the school color so that makes it a little more personal. It does have a 5x5 card attached to the back to write in as well.

The above card is for the college graduate.  I have to tell you I adore this card!!  It is a cutie file from KaDoodle Bug Designs (that I actually think I might have gotten for free though it is now just $1).  I found the branch file in the Silhouette store and it came with the flowers and leave so it was pretty much all set for me.  I made this one at 5x5 as several people will be signing it.  This mish mash of paper is from several different manufacturers...SU!, AC Cardstock, and A Muse Studio.  Seriously, this cutie makes me smile!

So, that is it!  Today I will be making another graduation card and a birthday card for sure.  Possibly a Christening card as well..depends on how much time I have.  I hope you all have a beautiful day!
